Chenango County’s budget goes before the public on Tuesday for a public hearing.

According to Lawrence Wilcox, Chenango County's Board of Supervisors chairperson, the budget is well under the property tax cap of 2%, increasing the tax base by 1.56% or about $15 dollars on average for a Chenango County resident.

Chenango is one of a few New York counties to be debt free. Wilcox said the board met November 6th to study the budget and that it will now go before the public. A copy of the tentative 2014 budget can be found here.

The public hearing will be held Tuesday at the Chenango County office building. Following Tuesday’s public hearing, the Board of Supervisors will meet Wednesday morning for a further review.
