At the Oneonta City School Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, it was presented that the closing of the Center Street Elementary School has saved the school district over $760,000.

Oneonta City School District business manager Lisa Weeks gave a presentation at the meeting outlining the elementary consolidation and a preliminary analysis of the savings of $761,466 identified to date.

The school board also has approved the resolution authorizing the reconstruction and construction improvements to the school districts buildings. The maximum estimated cost will be $4,611,976.

Oneonta City School voters will be able to vote on the reconstruction and construction improvements project on Jan. 8, 2013.
