In a move that has New York State environmentalists jumping for joy, Wednesday, both the State Health Department and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) gave negative reports on hydrofracking in New York State.  Governor Andrew Cuomo said he had no personal position on fracking and will let the experts decide the issue.

DEC Commissioner Joseph Martins talked about the negative impact fracking has on the environment, while Health Commissioner Howard Zucker touched on health studies and determined there is not enough extensive studies done yet to know the potential health risks of fracking and recommended high volume hydrofracking not proceed in New York.  Early next year, the DEC plans to issue legally binding findings prohibiting fracking in New York State.
