No cars, leisurely strolls around an old Victorian village, horse and buggy rides, the Grand Hotel.....

I have always heard about this remote place in Lake Huron.  It sounds kind of like a fairy tale existence.  The entire 8-square mile long island is listed as a National Historic Landmark.  Cars have been banned from the streets since 1898.

The Grand Hotel is another wonder I have always heard about.  It has the longest front porch in the world, 660-feet.  They say the view from the porch is breathtaking.  It must be because they charge you $10 just to walk on it (unless you are a guest of the hotel).

Yup...it all sounds magical to me.  I hope I get there some day.

Take a look at this video and you will see why I want to go and pay $10 to take a walk on the porch!
