Love, Grace, Generosity, Courage. Beulah May McQuiston Carpenter, 90, died peacefully on February 14th 2013 in the presence of her family. A long term resident of Shinhopple, NY, her friendly and welcoming disposition helped her husband Al Carpenter, Sr. and son, Al Carpenter, Jr. build three successful businesses, Al’s Wild Trout Ltd., Shinhopple and Al’s Sport Store/Downsville Motel. Full of life, Beulah was always smiling and all that came her way felt happy.

The daughter of the late Raymond and Sadie King McQuiston, she was born at the family’s homestead in Cronomer Valley, Newburgh, NY on July 27, 1922.

She is survived by her loving son, Al Carpenter of Downsville, NY; daughter Diane Crews of Binghamton, NY; devoted grandchildren, Sarah Crews of Berkshire, NY, Stephen Crews and Jacqueline Malec of Mullica Hill, NJ, and Aleida and Lenny Davis; her two great grandsons, Stephen and Trevor Davis of Newark Valley, NJ; her sisters, Dorothy Norvell and Marion Thorn; brothers-in-law, Walter Michaels and Robert Thorne of Newburgh, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, son-in-law, Stephen E. Crews; her sisters, Aleida Ruth Patterson, Evelyn Langlitz, and Elaine Michaels; and her brothers, Ralph, Earl, and Myron McQuiston.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Avenue, Roscoe, NY from 10-11 AM.

Graveside service and burial will be 2 PM in the Modena Rural Cemetery, Rt. 32 north of Plattekill, NY, where she will be laid to rest with her husband of 56 years, Albert Carpenter, Sr.

Memorial contributions in honor of Beulah’s memory may be made to the Resident Council Fund, c/o Roscoe Regional Rehabilitation & Residential Heath Care Facility, 420 Rockland Road, Roscoe, NY 12776-6420 in recognition of the compassionate staff who cared for her well and kindly.
