The local lung cancer community is coming together for the tenth annual Shine a Light on Lung Cancer event. Bassett Medical Center will join an anticipated 200 cities where Shine a Light will be taking place in health care facilities this November during Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Anush Patel, MD, chief of hematology/oncology, will present “Lung Cancer: An Oncologist’s Perspective.” There will also be raffles, live music, light refreshments and candle-lighting for those who have or have had lung cancer.

The event is Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Clinic Building lobby, Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, N.Y.

Bassett hopes to bring hope, inspiration and support to the lung cancer community in the region. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., taking more lives annually than breast, prostate and colon cancers combined.
