Baby Boomer Alert: Tom Terrific And His Mighty Dog Manfred…..They OWNED 1957!

This early cartoon was featured in five-minute segments on the Captain Kangaroo Show starting in 1957.  Tom Terrific could change himself into any shape he wanted because he wore a magical, funnel shaped hat he called his "Thinking Cap."

This cartoon was simple, basic, unsophisticated and beloved by all of us 7-year olds at the tim,e.  No computer generation, no special effects, no sweeping music, no expensive voice actors.  Just plain fun for the little ones.

Tom's sidekick was the woeful Manfred The Mighty Dog.  They were usually batling the evil doings of the show's nemesis, Crabby Appleton.
