I was visiting my Mom's house the other day.  I heard a phone ring.  You know, that old fashioned "riiinngg  riiiinnngg" that we have all heard for fifty years or more?  Not the tiny, tinny electro-beep that comes from a cell phone.

It has always been there.  Right at the end of our kitchen snack bar in the home I grew up in in Sidney.  I guess I just had forgotten about it.  As the phone continued to ring Mom got up and answered it.  It was surreal.  She has done this as long as I can remember.  But for some reason I was so struck by the thought of my 87-year old Mom cheerily answering something as archaic as a wall phone that I had to snap a photo of it.

You know, to show my kids.

They've never seen anyone answer a wall phone!
