This week we celebrate the birth of the Nash Rambler automobile.

The popular car came about on this day when the Nash Kelvinator Company merged with the Hudson Motor Car Company in the early 1950s.

The Rambler is recognized as America's first successful compact car.  It was also one of the first cars to break the "black color only" mold, being produced in pastels, bright colors and multi-hued combinations.  The Rambler, with its short snout and small windows was a high mileage vehicle.,

It was also one of the first vehicles marketed prominently to women.  Women designers came up with the cloth interiors, dashboard arrangements and color choices.

Wouldn't you love to have one of these little beauties under a tarp out in your garage!
