RICHONDVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say one of the 10 bison that escaped from an upstate New York farm last week has been rounded up.

Schoharie County Sheriff Tony Desmond tells the Daily Gazette of Schenectady that a male bison was caught Sunday, six days after escaping from the Grumpy Buffalo Farm in Richmondville, 40 miles west of Albany.

Desmond says five of the bison are still presumed to be in the woods near the farm, but the status of the other escapees unknown. The Times Union of Albany reported on Saturday that that three of the roaming bison were shot and killed because they posed a threat to people.

The farm's owner has declined to comment about whether any of the escaped animals had been shot.
