Section 4 Powers Roll to Wins

Two Section 4  football powers upped their records to 3-0 Saturday with home victories. At Spartan Stadium in Endwell the M-E Spartans crushed Owego 60-0.  Quarterback Kyle Gallagher carried the ball off right tackle and ran 57 yards for the score on the first play from scrimmage to ignite Maine-Endwell's offense as they opened up a 39-0 lead at the half.  Gallagher scored his second rushing touchdown of the day late in the opening quarter on a 15 yard run.  Luis Uceta added a pair of rushing touchdowns as well as the Spartan offense rolled up over 500 yards on the ground.  M-E has averaged 58 points per game in three early season lopsided wins.  Next up the Spartans host Johnson City Saturday at 130.

In Saturday night's 7 PM game at Ty Cobb Stadium Union-Endicott started out in similar fashion as bruising fullback Dan Davis took a handoff from Quarterback Joey Orlando on the first play from scrimmage and beat everyone to the end zone for a 59 yard touchdown and set the stage for a Tigers  50 - 13 romp.  Davis added another TD from one yard out late in the second quarter.  Another Davis...Sammy scored on carries of 57 and 58 yards for a pair of touchdowns and the Tigers were in command at the end of the first half 43-7.  Caleb Scepaniak fired a 9 yard touchdown pass to Thomas Mencel to cap the Tigers big game.  U-E travels to Elmira next weekend.
