Over the weekend, Albany, N.Y. imploded the old, abandoned Wellington Hotel in downtown.  This is to make room for a brand new 66-million dollar convention center. The hotel, actually an 11-story annex to the 1920s era Hotel Wellington, was an Albany landmark but was unsuitable for renovation.  So, down she came.

A large crowd gathered near the Empire State PLaza to watch the historic demise of the old Wellington.  And with loud bookms and crashes, and a light show from implanted fireworks, New York's Capital City showed the world that if yo uhave to tear a building down...do it with pizzazz!
