A Nostalgic Look At Downtown Norwich, 1960! And Who Remembers W.T. Grant??

Nowich has always had one of the prettiest downtown business districts in our area.  Here is a look at 2 vintage postcards of Broad Street from around 1955 to 1965.

There are so many wonderful things to see in these images, not the least being all those great classic old cars!  Gotta love the woody wagon in the one on top!

But how many remember some of these great old businesses?  W.T. Grants (below), Triangle Shoes right next to Endicott Johnson Shoes.  And what the heck did M.E. Fishman sell at his store?  And notice the parking difference in the two images.  Some urban planners must have gotten to the city fathers and told them "slanted parking " was better than "straight parking."  I wonder which one came first?
