The Chenango County Fairgrounds will be location for this year's 4th of July festivities again this year. Co-organizer of the the 2nd-annual Music and Balloon Fest, Debbie Bowers says the event runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Norwich with a variety of activities.

"This year we have many more activities, we are starting with a karaoke contest 10 a.m. sponsored by the Norwich Outdoor Power Equipment," Bowers said. "Then we are having a monster truck show and the Ross Park Zoo-Mobile from 2-5 and we're having bounce houses for the children trying to get a few more rides. There will also be a hotdog eating contest at 2:30."

Co-organizer Rick Stark said the vent also has a great lineup of live music as well.

"We'll start off at noon with Caitlyn Jackson, at 12:30 we have The Woodshed Profits, at 2:30 Shannon Stark," Stark said. "At 3 o'clock we've got a new singer, 17-year-old Colby Oakley Band, following him we have the Jason Wicks band, at 5:30 Cassidy Lynnn and the Beadle Brothers at 8:15 until the fireworks start."

Balloons will lift off at 6 p.m., and to top off the evening, a great fireworks display. Proceeds go to benefit the Memorial Education Fund sponsored by the Norwich Elks Club and other businesses. Tickets are $5 for ages 10 and over, and those age 9 and under are admitted for free.
