It's been announced that the 2014 Oscars host will be famed funnywoman Ellen DeGeneres!

After 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane hosted last year's affair to mixed reviews, he publicly stated that there was no way he'd reprise his duties for the 2014 Oscars. Now the already one-time Academy Awards host will be taking the job.

"We are thrilled to have Ellen DeGeneres host the Oscars," said Oscars executive producer Craig Zadan in a statement. "As a longtime friend, we had always hoped to find a project for us to do together and nothing could be more exciting than teaming up to do the Oscars. There are few stars today who have Ellen’s gift for comedy, with her great warmth and humanity. She is beloved everywhere and we expect that the audience at the Dolby Theatre, and in homes around the globe, will be as excited by this news as we are."

DeGeneres hosted the Oscars back in 2007, as well as fronting the Emmys in 2001 and 2005. And after the dynamic pairing of comediennes Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who co-hosted the 2013 Golden Globes to much fanfare, we're glad another female voice is getting some love.

DeGeneres currently hosts 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show,' in addition to being the face of J.C. Penney and a CoverGirl. She's also set to reprise her iconic Pixar role as Dory from 'Finding Nemo' in the sequel, 'Finding Dory,' which is set to hit theaters on November 25, 2015.

The 2014 Oscars ceremony will take place on March 2, 2014, and will be executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron for the second year in a row.
