For some, Sunday is a day for sports, for others 'The Walking Dead,' and another sizable portion staring still in drooled anticipation of the March 31 premiere of 'Game of Thrones.' Yet on this particular Sunday, it seems all eyes were on the 2013 Oscars, watching Ben Affleck blubber about his 'Argo' win and Seth MacFarlane sing about Jennifer Lawrence's boobs. The numbers are in, and it seems the 2013 Oscars delivered the highest viewers of any telecast in 3 years! Find out how many watched inside!

Even if a portion of movie fans and pop culture junkies alike choose to get their news over the internet, there can be no denying the success of the 2013 Oscars telecast on ABC. We've learned that this past Sunday's 85th Annual Academy Awards delivered 40.3 million viewers and a 13.0 rating among adults 18-49, up 3 percent among total viewers and 11 percent in the demographic.

Whether the surge in ratings could be attributed to younger-skewing movies in the nominations or 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane's turn as host, the 2013 show proved second most-watched Oscars telecast since 2005. The 2013 Oscars even beat the Golden Globe Awards by over 20 million viewers and the Grammy Awards by 11.9 million viewers overall.
